Facebook reportedly acquires Gowalla, was first reported by CNNMoney.

Gowalla is a social network-based location-sharing from Texas. Gowalla was launched in 2009 that was mentioned to be the main competitor of Foursquare. Both provide the same services although this time more people share their location with their peers using Foursquare.

CNNMoney said that there has been no official statement of Facebook and Gowalla management. However, Gowalla founder, Josh Williams, and all their employees were getting ready to move to the headquarters of Facebook at Paolo Alto, California.

Actually Gowalla teams are not assigned to develop the location-sharing feature on facebook, as they did during this time. Gowalla took on responsibility for developing the Timeline Facebook feature that has been launched last September in the Facebook F8 conference.

Timeline is a Facebook feature in the form of a page that will replace Facebook Profile Page. The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, called the Timeline as a place of your life story, your applications, and a place where you express yourself.
